Brawn GP auctioning off Honda F1 cars at Silverstone Classic event
One of those ways is the auction of several race cars and show cars from the 2001-2006 period of the Honda and British American Tobacco F1 teams that were included in Brawn's purchase of Honda's F1 operation.
"We are delighted to be able to give collectors and our fans the opportunity to share in our history and purchase some fantastic items, including actual race cars, through this unique sale," said Brawn GP's CEO Nick Fry.
Bonham's Motoring is also excited about the sale, which will take place July 25 at the Silverstone Classic Historic Race Meeting. "All Formula One teams accumulate a fairly large collection of race chassis over the years and the timing of the Brawn GP sale could not be better," said James Knight, international managing director of Bonham's Motoring Department.
"The team have been the undoubted stars of the 2009 Formula One season and this sale enables collectors and their legion of fans to acquire some fabulous historic lots."
All of the cars up for grabs will be sold in rolling chassis form, lacking engines and other key elements for actual on-track use, but well-suited to a garage collection. Prices for the cars are expected to range from £7,000-£22,000 ($11,500-$36,000).
For those eying a smaller piece of Honda/BAR F1 history, there will be up to 100 other lots of memorabilia sold at the event as well, including things like race overalls, spare parts and official team merchandise. For more details, check out Bonham's announcement.
